Clinical Pharmacist
Clinical pharmacists work as part of the general practice team to improve value and outcomes from medicines and consult with and treat patients directly. This includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions, advice for those on multiple medicines and better access to health checks.
Nurses
There are seven practice nurses. They are all qualified nurses who have undertaken a range of further training, including family planning, diabetic, and asthma care. The practice nurses work within the surgery carrying out a wide range of clinical nursing duties and health promotion. Where appropriate, patients may make appointments to see the practice nurses directly.
Healthcare Assistants
Our HCAs are part of the nursing team. They provide a range of services at the request of our doctors and nurses including phlebotomy (blood tests), ECGs and health promotion.
Locum GPs
From time to time locum doctors may be working in the practice to cover holidays, sickness and study leave. These doctors are always fully trained General Practitioners.
First Contact Physio
Assess
and manage MSK
conditions
which include arthritis, injury, illness, and disability. They can treat using manual
therapy, education, exercise, and advice.
Care Coordinators
Our Care Coordinators work closely with our GPs, and often liaise with patients on behalf of the GPs.
Trainee GPs
As a training practice we will often have a registrar GP working with us. Registrars are fully qualified doctors with several years' experience, the equivalent of a Registrar in a hospital, and work under the supervision of a partner. Registrars often utilise video recording during their year in practice. You will always have the option of choosing not to have your consultation video recorded.
Social Prescribers
We have access to a Social Prescriber through our Primary Care Network. They help coordinate patients care and focus on priorities for the patient. That includes directing patients to local support services and organisations.
Community Midwives
Midwives are specialists in maternity care. They are involved throughout pregnancy, delivery and in the first few weeks after the birth of the baby. The patients at our surgery are looked after by a team of midwives who work from Children's Centres and occasionally see patients in the surgery. The maternity packs provided on confirmation of your pregnancy contain up to date information about how to contact the team of midwives. They can also be contacted at the Cambridge Children's Centre on 01223 586787.
Community Nurses
The district nurses work within patients' homes carrying out an assessment of the patient's needs, providing skilled nursing care and offering support and advice to those persons caring for the patient.
Health Visitors
Our patients have access to a child and family team, comprising of qualified nursery nurses and health visitors. This team supports families and children under the age of 16years. The team can be contacted Monday to Friday by telephoning 01223 477559.
